Marco Rubio is the FIRST confirmed Trump appointee.

Just hours after the president's 20 January 2025 inauguration.

He received a whopping 99-0 vote in Senate.

Everyone obviously felt this 53-year-old was capable for the job.

Rubio is now America's Secretary of State.

What is he expected to do?

"The secretary of state serves as the principal advisor to the president of the United States on all foreign affairs matters. The secretary carries out the president's foreign policies through the State Department, which includes the Foreign Service, Civil Service, and U.S. Agency for International Development. The office holder is the second-highest-ranking member of the president's Cabinet, after the vice president, and ranks fourth in the presidential line of succession; first amongst cabinet secretaries."

What are Rubio's foreign policies?

"Rubio voiced support for a Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen against Houthi rebels.[253] Regarding Iran, he supports tough sanctions, and scrapping the nuclear deal with Iran; regarding the Islamic State, he favors aiding local Sunni forces in Iraq and Syria.

Rubio is a staunch supporter of Israel... Rubio condemned Hamas's October 2023 attack on Israel and expressed his support for Israel and its right to self-defense.[281] He called for the complete eradication of Hamas in Gaza.[282] Rubio said Israel cannot coexist "with these savages… They have to be eradicated."[284] In 2023, he said Hamas was "100 percent to blame" for Palestinian casualties in Gaza.[285]

In February 2022, Rubio condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine.[286] In November 2024, he called Ukrainians "incredibly brave and strong", but said the war in Ukraine had reached a "stalemate" and "needs to be brought to a conclusion" to avoid further casualties."

Just like with Speaker Mike Johnson, and vice-president JD Vance, initially Rubio didn't see eye to eye with Trump.

But I guess, there's that Trump "effect".

People are drawn to his leadership.

It's heartening to know they're all working towards supporting their president.
